When car insurance may be necessary against theft

Silver sports utility vehicleCar theft can be a traumatic event, and most people don’t know just how quickly it can happen. That’s why it’s important for a driver to consult a professional about auto insurance coverage recommendations.

Allstate Insurance is working to educate the public about just how how quickly and easily a person’s car can be stolen. The company’s Stripped in Seconds team is touring the country and showing drivers how fast they can transform a vehicle into a bare shell and a jumble of parts. These chop shop demonstrations will show how often an automobile’s separate parts can be worth more than the vehicle as a whole.

Mike Roche, Allstate senior vice president for claims, said that "a car is stolen every 33 seconds in the United States and common sense could keep many of these thefts from happening. Thieves look for easy targets. Your vehicle is one of the biggest investments you will make, and you should be sure to take the steps necessary to protect your vehicle."

Expert auto thieves can break into a car in less than 10 seconds and will take less than one minute to drive off with it. The most heavily targeted vehicles ares the more reliable ones that have a longer road life, according to Allstate.ADNFCR-3298-ID-19758221-ADNFCR
