Survey Ranks 22 Car Insurance Cos. by Customer Satisfaction

Man at counter filling out formsConsumer Reports has ranked 22 auto insurance companies according to feedback collected from more than 28,000 policyholders who filed claims between January 2006 and June 2009.

The rankings, published in the most recent issue of the magazine, are based on consumers’ opinions regarding the timeliness of payment and the existence of problems encountered in the claims process.

The magazine scored the insurance companies on a 100-point scale based on customer satisfaction, with 100 being the most satisfied. All 22 companies received scores above 80. However, a quarter of the respondents reported that it took more than two weeks to receive their claim payments.

A few of the top rated auto insurance companies were New Jersey Manufactures Insurance Company (NJM Insurance Group), USAA Group, Amica Mutual Group and Auto-Owners Insurance Group of Companies.
