Auto insurance for Fords may be cheaper

The Ford Taurus costs less to repair than other similar vehicles. When it comes to finding the cheapest auto insurance, the type of car a person drives contributes to how costly their rates are.

A National Highway Traffic Safety Administration study found Ford vehicles are more affordable to repair, something auto insurers take into account when determining premiums. The NHTSA survey also found that collision insurance is the cheapest for Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln vehicles in their segments.

Ford cars that led the way in cheap auto repairs include the Focus, Taurus, and F-Series trucks coming from the 2007 to 2009 model years. According to the car company, they created a specific engineering and technical center with the goal of making collision repairs more affordable.

Ford customer service division vice president Frederiek Toney said that "vehicle affordability continues to be the most important purchase consideration for car and truck buyers, rivaled only by fuel economy. We design our vehicles to be easier and more affordable to repair because we know this saves our customers money in insurance premiums and repair costs over the long term."

Other factors that can contribute to low auto insurance rates include the area a person lives and a good driver rating.ADNFCR-3298-ID-19785363-ADNFCR
