The Hanover Insurance Group of Massachusetts announced that it will offer its customers a discount on a safe-driving course that will teach those life-saving techniques.

Hanover customers who sign up by September 6 get $100 off the $299 price tag for a course taught by In Control Crash Prevention. The training benefits drivers of all ages, especially teens, and will help make Massachusetts’ roads safer, said Edward Ruhl, Hanover’s regional vice president.

In Control’s course is the only one of its kind to receive certification through the state of Massachusetts, and has cut down crashes among participating drivers by 70 percent, said the insurance company.

The class will teach participants a number of skills that they can use in emergency situations. These include emergency braking and lane changes, controlling speed and steering, driving in hazardous conditions, making quick decisions under pressure, and dealing with distractions and tailgating.

Learning these techniques can create better drivers and cut down the number of claims that pour into auto insurance companies every day as a result of unsafe driving.ADNFCR-3298-ID-19852622-ADNFCR
