Choice in car insurance coverage can be vital

Woman making a decisionBlue car on roadCar buyers can spend all of their time focused on which vehicle to purchase and not enough researching the best kind of auto insurance.

Consumers can become preoccupied with finding the cheapest auto insurance, which doesn’t always provide the best coverage. States don’t require drivers to insure their cars, but doing so will be one of the safest precautions a person can take.

When purchasing auto insurance, not everyone can afford more than what is minimally required. But if a consumer is able to purchase a more comprehensive package, James Daw – a personal finance columnist – advises doing just that.

"You have assets and income to protect, skimping on coverage could prove costly to you and your family in the event of an accident," Daw said. Drivers could "regret buying only the minimum coverage," Daw said. "There is always a chance you could cause more damage to someone else than the basic policy will cover, or that you will suffer more damage than another driver’s policy will cover."

Consumers should take plenty of time when researching what type of auto insurance coverage is right for them. Consulting an insurance representative could help answer any questions drivers may have.ADNFCR-3298-ID-19754701-ADNFCR
