Allstate Car Insurance Correlates Zodiac Signs and Claims Data

Recent news of a shift in the zodiac calendar has received some attention from an unlikely source: Allstate auto insurance.

The car insurance coverage provider recently released a breakdown of its internal data that shows each sign’s share of accident claims that were filed last year.

It turns out that Virgos — born between Sept. 16 and Oct. 30, according to the revised calendar — had the highest share of total accidents. Drivers who fall under this sign accounted for  211,650 accidents in 2010, which is 12 percent of the total. According to the car insurance coverage provider, Virgos are worrisome and shy.

Coming in with the lowest share of total accidents were Scorpios, although this is probably largely due to the fact that the calendar revisions left the sign with only a six-day span — from  Nov. 23 to Nov. 28. Scorpios, who are purportedly passionate and resourceful, filed 26,833 accident claims last year.

Second lowest were motorists born between Nov. 29 and Dec. 17. These drivers are said to now fall under the Ophiuchus sign, and they filed 83, 234 insurance claims with Allstate.

Luckily for Virgos, there haven’t been any reports that zodiac sign will soon be considered an actuarially sound predictor of risk — yet.
