GEICO Named Official Car Insurance Co. of the Orlando Magic

Dwight Howard with ball in handGEICO has recently established a multi-year deal with the Orlando Magic basketball team. As the official auto insurance company of the team, fans will see signage bearing the GEICO logo throughout the Amway Center.

As part of the “Champions of the Community” relationship, GEICO will have entitlement to a nearby parking garage as well as advertisements on the team’s webpage, radio spots and print advertisements.

“GEICO is proud and pleased to join the Orlando Magic and Amway Center as a ‘Champions of the Community’ partner,’” said GEICO’s vice president of marketing, Ted Ward. “The Orlando Magic is a real champion of the community through its sponsorships and scholarships. We look forward to continuing our partnership with this outstanding franchise.”

GEICO’s promoting its services in a highly visible way may help it sell more auto insurance in Florida, where having auto insurance is mandatory. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles estimates there were nearly 16 million licensed drivers in the state between 2005 and 2006.
