Auto Insurance Co. Sponsors U.S. Open and Green Initiatives

Tennis matchEsurance has announced that it will be a sponsor of this year’s U.S. Open. In particular, the auto insurance company will be promoting use of New York City’s public transportation system in a push to be more eco-friendly.

According to the Environmental Defense Fund, more than 333 million tons of carbon dioxide are emitted each year from U.S. cars. In an effort to encourage fans to use the subway, MetroCards for the city’s subway system will be given out during the tournament courtesy of Esurance.

The auto insurance company says that their support of green initiatives is an important goal and that they have already planted nearly 100,000 trees and cut back on paper use.

“We are proud to partner with the USTA, an organization which shares our commitment to increasing awareness about the small things each of us can do to help protect our environment for years to come. We look forward to an exciting tournament this year from some of the top names in tennis,” said Esurance president and chief executive officer Gary Tolman.
