Auto Insurance Co. Offers Discount to Community College Students

Students looking at booksElephant Auto Insurance is extending an 8-percent discount to active community college students in Virginia. According to the company, consumers can save up to $500 a year by switching to their services.

These savings could be considerable, especially for college students who are on a tight budget and may be young enough to still be in the high risk car insurance category. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners reported that, in 2007, the average coverage expenditure for motorists in Virginia was $661.

Elephant says students can get cheap car insurance quotes online by visiting their website and that, after generating a quote through their site, applicants will be entered into a sweepstakes to win an Apple iPad.

Currently, Elephant issues policies to motorists only in Virginia. However, in September, company representatives said they have plans to expand nationwide.
