Auto Insurance Co. Official Sponsor of Rose Parade Marching Bands

Brass musical instrumentsThe annual Tournament of Roses Parade has blossomed into a major showcase for high school marching bands. The New Year’s Day 2011 event will be the 122nd time that floats and marching bands will make their way through Pasadena, Calif., as part of the annual parade. And, thanks to the help of an insurance company, a Delaware high school is getting some financial help to travel across the country and be part of the celebration.

Auto insurance company 21st Century Insurance, part of Farmers Insurance Group, is doing its part to help send a group of Wilmington, Del., marching band students to the event.

The auto insurance company hosted a car-wash fundraiser and raffle to help the Downington High School marching band pay their way to California.

“Farmers has been part of the Rose Parade for more than 50 years,” said 21st Century communications and community events manager Jaynine Warner. “In addition, this will be the second consecutive year that Farmers is the Official Sponsor of the Marching Bands.”

The Rose Parade has an international following in over 200 countries and is broadcast domestically on New Year’s Day. The parade is known for its top-notch marching band performances and elaborate floral floats.
