Car Insurance Co. Predicts Double-Digit Increase in Thanksgiving Travel

Thanksgiving turkey on tableAuto insurance provider AAA predicts an increase in Thanksgiving travel of more than 11 percent from last year. The company cites improved economic conditions as fueling the trend.

“While Americans remain cautious with household budgets and discretionary spending amidst high levels of unemployment, many are in a better financial position this Thanksgiving than a year ago,” says AAA’s president and CEO, Robert Darbelnet. “This improvement, along with a strong desire to spend time with friends and family, is expected to propel a significant increase in Thanksgiving travel.”

With all the extra drivers on the road, an accident is more likely to occur. Motorists should make sure their vehicle is properly insured before embarking on prolonged excursions.

In addition to having the right amount of car insurance, motorists should ensure their vehicle is properly maintained. Checking a car’s oil and tire pressure, for example, is a simple task vehicle owners should perform before embarking on a road trip. Motorists should also make sure to carry proof of insurance while driving.
