AAA Reduces Auto Insurance Rates in Hawaii

Wallet and U.S. currencySome drivers in Hawaii will benefit from more affordable monthly payments on their auto insurance.

AAA Hawaii will reduce rates for its customers by an average of 10 percent, slashing up to $120 off policies every year. The move will benefit members of AAA Hawaii’s affiliated insurer, the Interinsurance Exchange of the Automobile Club, the auto group announced.

The discounts, which first had to be approved by Insurance Commissioner J.P. Schmidt, will allow AAA Hawaii to offer its customers quality coverage at the best possible price, said the company’s insurance business manager Liane Sumida.

Schmidt called the company a good competitor in the state’s auto insurance market, adding that competitive rates will be beneficial to all of Hawaii’s consumers.

AAA Hawaii members may also benefit from a number of other auto insurance discounts, including ones for safe driving, owning multiple vehicles, and buying several policies, said Sumida.

A recent survey pegged the average cost of policies in Hawaii at $1,306.97, below the national average of $1,429.26. The state ranked 32 out of 50 states, plus the District of Columbia.
